Nadia Bakhtiari
Barrister & Solicitor, Team Leader
As an Associate Lawyer, Nadia assists with matters relating to litigation (RPD, RAD, ID, IAD, FC), humanitarian-based immigration, temporary residence (visiting, studying, working), express entry, and any other matters related to obtaining permanent residency. Nadia is client-focused, passionate, and is committed to helping clients realize their dreams in Canada.
Nadia received a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from the University of Windsor – Faculty of Law, and a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from the University of Detroit – School of Law. She received her Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from the University of Toronto in Political Science and Middle Eastern Studies. During her undergraduate studies, Nadia was the Chair of the University of Toronto Refugee Alliance and the recipient of the Gordon Cressy Leadership Award. At the University of Windsor, she was Chair of the Canadian Association of Refugee Lawyers, and the recipient of the Access to Justice Award, J.W. White Side Award and the Social Justice Fellowship. At the University of Detroit, she served as the Chair of If/When/How: Lawyering for Reproductive Justice, and received the Public Advocacy Fellowship.
In Ontario, Nadia has worked with various clinics in helping women and youth flee persecution and violence, and obtain immigration status, on a pro bono basis. She led the efforts to lift the cap on private sponsorship in Canada, and coordinated the Refugee Sponsorship Support Program in Windsor. In Michigan, Nadia has worked with various organizations and clinics in obtaining status for undocumented youth and asylum seekers.
